Spring is such a great time a year when everything comes back to life.  It has a way of putting a skip in your step because the color start to show with spring flowers.  And with spring comes storms, a favorite time of year for storm chasers.  The weather is getting crazier and crazier each year.  This will be my 30th year chasing severe thunderstorms and may be my last.  Time will tell on that. Storms season takes over your life as a chaser. Like being on call 24/7.

When the storms come in my phone go off with warnings, bells and sirens.  Weather apps.  My favorite for lightning is weather bug.  Click on spark and you can see lightning strikes and how lose they are.  very cool.   Anyway lightning has always been my favorite subject because it happens so quick but in a photo you can study it.  For me it has always been about the composition and art.

These days everyone wants to be a storm chaser.  All I can say is be very very careful out there. We just lost a few more chasers this year and it is early season.  My style is to stay local and mostly lightning storms.  Not into flying cows with tornadoes.  Never in my life have I see so many people outThank you thank you thank youside trying to spot the twister.  There is a lot of danger in all this and be prepared for HAIL.  I HATE HAIL! It makes me run away like a screaming little girl. Not that there is anything wrong with that.  🙂  Hail hurts and destroys.   Safety is always number one.  So be careful out there.   When thunder roars…. run indoors.

Here is a a monster thunderstorm cloud towering over a rustic rural old farm house in North East Boulder County Colorado on the Edge of Longmont. Love how this looks like it is going to gobble up this little rural rustic house.  It’s all about the art. Hope you enjoy.
